On Thursday June 10, 2008 the Vaughan Firefighters Mechanical Group donated a refurbished van to the Vaughan Food Bank. The used van was upgraded and refurbished by the Vaughan Firefighters Group. The van is a welcome addition to the Vaughan Food Bank, as it will be utilized, along with our other van, for pick ups of food donations, and drop offs of Vaughan Food Bank bins to food drive events. The Vaughan Firefighters Group provided a special luncheon for Vaughan Food Bank director Peter Wixson to mark the turnover of the van.
Vaughan Food Bank director Peter Wixson is extremely thankful to the Vaughan Firefighters Mechanical Group, when commenting on the donation he said, "The Vaughan Firefighters Mechanical Group has put a lot of time and effort into refurbishing the van, and I am very thankful for their generosity. Having a van that is in good working condition is essential to the operations of the Vaughan Food Bank, without one we would be severely incapacitated. The generosity of the Vaughan Firefighters Mechanical Group is also a reflection of all the support and generosity that the food bank has received over the years from the Vaughan Fire & Rescue Association. We are extremely grateful for this donation and for all of the Vaughan Fire & Rescue Association continued support of the Vaughan Food Bank."
The Vaughan Food Bank has already been utilizing the donated van, and it is operating in terrific order. The additional van has already helped to improve the operations of the Vaughan Food Bank, and has relieved some of the burden from our current van.
