York Regional Police Participate in Vaughan Food Drive
Sat Nov 11, 2006 / 11:00am - 6:00pm

The York Regional Police #4 District Community Oriented Response (COR) Unit will be joining its emergency services and community partners in collecting food for the Vaughan Food Bank to fill the Maple Lions Club float in the SantaFest parade.

On Saturday, November 11, 2006, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., York Regional Police officers will join members of Vaughan Fire, York Region Emergency Medical Services, the Vaughan Bylaw Department and the Maple Lions Club at Maple Fortinos, located at 2911 Major Mackenzie Drive, at Jane Street, in the City of Vaughan.

They will be encouraging shoppers to donate to this worthy cause and participate in the on-site barbeque.  The food collected, as well as donations received across the community including at the #4 District headquarters, will be placed on the Lions Club float in the SantaFest parade, which will take place on Sunday, November 12, 2006, beginning at 2 p.m. along Major Mackenzie Drive from The Canada’s Wonderland to the City of Vaughan town offices.

Food will also be collected along the route of the parade. For more information about the parade, visit the City of Vaughan website at www.city.vaughan.on.ca

York Regional Police encourages residents to be generous, especially at this time of year when budgets may be stretched thin. For more information, please contact Sergeant Vernon Ward, of the #4 District COR Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7420.
